My name is David Pogson, and I have had the privilege of serving as the principal of Beachwood Elementary School since 2023. Located on North Fort of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, our school is proud to serve the children of military families from across the country. At Beachwood, we believe every child is strong, capable, and full of potential—and it’s our mission to nurture that potential every single day. 

Beachwood Elementary is home to approximately 400 incredible students from Preschool to 5th grade.  Our dedicated staff works with care and commitment to support each student both academically and socially, creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where every child can thrive. 

We proudly offer a range of engaging programs designed to support and inspire our learners: 

• Daily specialist classes in Physical Education, Library, and Fine Arts 
• Targeted reading intervention to boost literacy skills for qualifying students 
• Inclusive special education services, including Functional Academics classrooms and special education preschool to meet diverse learning needs 

Beachwood has been honored for its academic achievement by OSPI during the 2021/2022, 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 school years. This honor goes to only 16% of schools in the state of Washington.
